The NDA Ministry Team is an 8th grade student leadership team with 5th, 6th and 7th grade apprentices that foster Catholic identity at Notre Dame Academy through personal witness and planning and execution of school-wide liturgical and spiritual activities. Students apply for the Ministry Team at the end of 7th grade and are selected by a team of NDA teachers to serve for the following school year.
To increase a sense of community vertically, students in Kindergarte through 8th grades are assigned to a Saint Family. The families meet each trimester to develop spiritually with one another to achieve our Mission.
As a means of enriching the music program, students in grades 3-8 may elect to join the school choir as a singer or instrumentalist. The Music Ministry of Notre Dame Academy offers the students the opportunity to share in the joy of serving God through music. The program provides spiritual, personal and musical growth through song and praise. The choir and instrumentalists will participate in Friday morning school liturgies as well as special events. Participants attend one of two thirty-minute practices per week. After approval of the Music Director, each student will be provided details of the practice schedule and requirements for liturgy service hours.
Students in grades 5 – 8 are invited to serve St. Therese of Carmel Parish as Altar Servers. After approval by the Pastor and initial training, students will be scheduled to serve for various parish Masses on weekends and at school Masses. Ongoing training is a requirement. Time served as Altar Servers may be counted for Christian service hours.
Students in Grades 6-8 who enjoy additional academic challenges work together and as individuals to represent Notre Dame Academy at the annual competition in March. Under the direction of the teachers, parents, and grandparents coaches, students work to master material in three areas; Logic, Super Quiz, and 8 individual topics in religion, literature, language arts, science, math, fine arts, social studies, and current events. The topics vary each year.
Each year, Notre Dame Academy sponsors several outreach projects to help the less fortunate. Most of these outreach projects; spearheaded by the students, benefit the local community. Each grade level has a specific faith-in-action program in which they participate. The classroom teacher will reach out regarding your student’s faith-in-action program at the designated time in the school year.
